What Items can i store in my unit?

You can store a variety of items in your unit. For items sensitive to temperature changes and humidity, we recommend a a temperature-controlled storage unit to give you peace of mind. Common items include electronics, wooden or upholstered furniture, important documents, photographs, clothing, musical instruments, collectibles, antiques, wine, and medical supplies. You can not store the following: anything flammable (gas, propane, etc.), food, guns or ammunition, hazardous or toxic substances.

do i need insurance to rent a self storage unit?

Yes, you must have insurance that covers your items. If you have your own insurance, you can bypass ours with a copy of your declaration page.

How long can i rent a storage unit?

Our contracts are month-to-month, but we do offer discounts for longterm contracts and annual leases.

Do you offer climate-controlled storage units?

Yes, we offer climate controlled units as well as drive-up (non climate-controlled) units. Our offerings are facility dependent, so please check our Find Storage page to ensure temperature controlled units are available near you.

Can I access my storage unit anytime?

Our access hours are 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. For business customers, we offer convenient 24 hour access to your unit.

What security features are available for self storage units?

At Citadel Self Storage, we prioritize the security of your belongings. Our self storage facilities are equipped with 24-hour surveillance cameras, individual unit alarms, gated access with security code access, and on-site staff.

Do I need to buy a lock?

No, we include a disc lock with each rental.

What happens if lose my keys to my lock?

We can cut the lock off and issue you a replacement lock for the cost of the lock.

Will I get locked in if I'm here after 10PM?

Our access hours are 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. If you are still in your unit after we close at 10:00 PM, you will always be able to leave but will not be able to re-enter.

Rental Payment FAQs

When you store your RV or boat with Citadel Self Storage, it’s always ready when you are. Find answers to common questions about rental payments.

Do you raise rent?

We offer a 1-year price lock guarantee.

What happens if I'm past due on rent?

You have a 5-day grace period before the first late fee applies. After the 6th, the unit will be overlocked and you can not access your items until the account is paid in full.

Do you offer military Discounts?

Yes, we will waive the admin fee for any active duty military personnel.

How can I make my payments?

At Citadel Self Storage, we offer a variety of convenient payment options. We offer both autopay and online payments, but you can also call us to pay, stop by the office to pay, or send a check via mail.

Why are there different price options for the same unit size?

Our self storage rental prices are facility dependent. We offer 1st floor, 2nd floor, and 3rd floor unit options that vary in price. Contact your location to learn more about individual unit prices.

Why is there a website Price and an In store price?

We offer a discount for booking your unit online.

Do you have any units available?

Our website will give you a full list of all available units. If you have additional questions regarding our self storage units, please give the facility nearest you a call.

Do you provide moving help?

We can provide you with the names of reliable moving help for hire.

Do you have carts and dollies?

Yes, we keep carts and dollies at our entrance points for your convenience.

Do you offer parking spots?

Yes, many of our facilities offer parking spots. Amenities are faculty dependent, so please check with your local facility for more information.

Do we need to let you know when we access our unit?

No, once you have your account set up, you can access it anytime during our access hours.

Do we need to be on site when our movers deliver our items to the unit?

As long as they have a key to the unit or coordinate getting the lock on the unit and the keys back to the owner, you do not need to be on site.

What if I need a different size unit from my current one?

You can transfer units at any time, depending on availability.

What do I need to do when I move out?

When moving out, please give us 5 days notice. You will also need to clean out your unit and take all your belongings, leave the door in the open position, and let us know you have left.

Will I get a refund for remaining days?

No, we do not prorate our rates, so please be sure to plan your departure and move out at the end of your lease.
